Favourite Mascara of the Month - L'Oreal Paris False Lash Flutter

So instead of doing the usual monthly favourites, I decided to talk about just one product. It is the L'Oreal Paris False Lash Flutter. The amount of hype there was about the mascara was almost unbearable. I thought my trusty Volume Million Lashes (from L'Oreal too) was the other mascara in the world for me. But oh no no. I was wrong. It was on offer in Boots, so I thought I might as well try it and see what all the fuss was about, and now I see.

The mascara claims to extend the look of lashes towards the outer eye without clumps. It also claims to have Cacoon fibres which help to make the lashes look longer. The wand for this mascara is thicker one end and becomes tapered towards the end.

I normally apply two coats of mascara just to build up volume and length. I find that this mascara work even better when you wear winged liner. This mascara definitely gives me longer lashes and definitely winged out. You just need to be careful with how you apply the mascara due to the wand. Use the wider part for the outer ends. So you do find yourself in an awkward position when it comes to the left eye. Use the rounded side of the wand for the bottom lashes as it catches every single hair.

Two coats are just enough for my lashes. Anymore and it will look spidery. Excuse the untamed brows.

Empties #1

I haven't done a post like this before, but let's give it a try. I thought as well as beauty and skincare products, I should put a non empty product just to mix things up a bit.

Pantene Pro V Extra Strong Hairspray (£3.69) - If you remember my haul from a while while while back in September, you know that I bought two different types of hairspray. I thought this one would be the hairspray would hold any curl in place, turns out it doesn't. Well not for my hair anyway. But I still tried to use it all up to its very last drop. I wouldn't purchase this one again though.

Max Factor False Lash Effect (£10.99) - This mascara is amazing!! Especially in the waterproof version. I wore this whilst swimming and it holds up and does not flake at all. But you do need a good make up remover to get this off. Preferably something oily like the Botanics Eye make up remover. Definitely need to repurchase this after I finish my Maybelline's Big Eye Mascara.

Witch Skin Clearing Primer (£6.99) - I LOVE this. If you get spots frequently and need something to calm it down and reduce the size and redness, get this. I apply this before my make up on days I get breakouts and I sometimes use it before bed to just to calm down the spots. It really does work. Definitely another repurchase.

MUA's Fixing Mist (£5) - I know fixing mists are supposed to be used for after you finish applying all of your make up. But I find that using it to wet or dampen your make up sponge works better rather than using water. It's just another reassurance that your make up will stay put before you after your powder, blusher and all that jazz.

Maybelline's Baby Lips in Intense Care (£2.99) - Another amazing product, I've literally scraped every last bit of this lip balm. It's a must have for me. I also did a little review previously, make sure you check that too.

Last but not least, GREEN TEA! Twinings in Mango and Lychee (£1.59) - I can't get enough of this flavour, it's so sweet and comforting. Perfect with my breakfast, after my lunch and after dinner for ease of digestion aha. It's healthy and helps with burning fat as well.

So that sums up my empties for now, I might do this after every time I get a significant amount of empty products rather than every month. What do you guys think?

January Favourites '14

How are we already in February?! I still remember getting excited about Christmas. Why does time fly so fast! So let's get started on my monthly favourites.

First on the list is Foundation. L'Oreal's Eau De Teint is amazing. That velvet-y feel on the skin just makes me want to apply layers upon layers. It's lightweight, leaves a powder finish and has a SPF 18. It gives such a flawless finish. I have been wearing this every day to university and I don't think I want to try any other foundations until this one finishes right to the end.

BABY SKIN. YOU JUST DON'T KNOW KNOW. (Know the song?)
So Maybelline's Baby Skin isn't a primer like POREfessional. This is mostly a silicone primer which smudges your pore's away. I haven't found an absolute difference between not using this primer and using it. Although I have noticed that my foundation does glide on better and blends in quicker, which is a plus for me as I don't have time to keep on blending.

Get rid of them wrinkles. Eye Creams/Gel are a must in any girl's makeup bag. It helps when you're concealing the eyes and leaves a smooth finish. The Body Shop's eye cream is unperfumed, lightweight and de-puffs those eyes from a night out on the town. Retails for £7.00. A little steep for a basic eye gel but does the job well.

Flutter them lashes with Revlon's Lash Potion. I prefer the plastic wand when applying mascara, like the Maybelline's Rocket, but this is amazing for a bristle wand. The non-waterproof holds my lashes in place and there is no fall out whatsoever which is normally a big problem for me. I actually bought this for £5 as it was on offer after Christmas. But it's usually £9.99.

And last but not least, PERFUME! Oh and not any kind, oh no no no, it's the Katy Perry Killer Queen. Ever since buying this, it's been my scent every single day. It's sweet and mature at the same time much more mature than her first ever perfume Purr. The only thing I don't like about it is that I thought there would be some sort of holder for the perfume, just because it just lies on the table and get's in the way. Apart from that it is AMAZINGGG. Usually retails for £29.00 for the 50ml, but it's sometimes on offer in Boots so always be on the lookout.

What's been you're January Favourites and what are you looking forward too?

Toiletry Haul

Most of my skincare toiletries were running out, so a little trip to Superdrug was in order. I don't know why I choose Superdrug over Boots all the time. But anyways let's see what I bought.

I was only supposed to get skincare things but I did sneakily buy two make up products. I did try very hard to just buy what I needed.

After the amount of times I've changed my skincare routine is unbelievable. I used to get acne only on my forehead which was annoying. Once I changed my product from Simple to Garnier I noticed such a HUGE difference. I only used Simple because it was gentle enough for my sensitive and dry skin. Plus using the the Overnight clearing serum and Witch's skin clearing primer has helped to reduce the redness and soreness of spots. I'm not saying that my spots just disappear completely but there is a significant difference in the size and colour. It makes it easier to conceal too.

We all need silky soft skin and this helps a lot. My legs are so much softer because of this. Protects my skin during the cold winter days and helps to prepare the skin for the December parties!!

I make my dentist happy by using these two products, morning and night. I do love a pearly white smile. Say cheeeeseeeee.

I have an excuse for the mascara. I was actually running out of my other one. But I just really wanted to get at least one shade of the Apocalips. I just had to. Perfect shade for the upcoming parties.

I'm thinking of doing a skincare post soon, what do you think? Any other posts that you'd want to see from me?

TUESDAY TIP! - Clumpy or Dried out Mascara

Have you guys ever had a problem where you want to use your favourite mascara but you open it and see it all clumpy? Well don't worry, I have a solution! I have found a simple trick to make your clumpy or your nearly run out mascara become smooth and clump free. Keep reading to find out!

Here I have my two favourite mascara's, both from Max Factor. One's the MasterPiece - High Definition Mascara and the second is my most favourite the False Lash Effect in Waterproof. I find that the MasterPiece is best suited for my bottom lashes and the False Lash Effect is best used for them night's out when make up must stay on! So it was kind of annoying when I urgently needed my MasterPiece mascara and found that it was running out, on top of that the False Lash Effect was getting clumpy. So if you have a similar problem, here's how to fix it.

STEPS

Get a glass and put a bit of tepid water, then add some boiling water. This will create a perfect temperature for the mascara to melt and break down. When adding water make sure the water doesn't reach the seal of the mascara, as water may enter it and ruin your mascara.

Leave the mascara's in the water for about 5-10 minutes, depending on the clumpy-ness of the mascara. The more clumpy the longer you leave it.

Try not to put the mascara in boiling water as this could potentially ruin the mascara and slightly over warm it. By adding the tepid water this will allow the mascara to break down in it's own time.

Wipe off the water from the mascara packaging and you're ready to use your mascara. You can that the consistency of the mascara has thinned out, this allows me to build up my mascara without it clumping up.

Another reason why I like doing this is because the warmth of the mascara holds the curl for a tad bit longer compared to a normal mascara.

So this was my first 'Tuesday Tip', if you like this then don't you worry, I will have a tip for you every week!
